Home inspectors provide an invaluable service to prospective buyers and sellers. They create an atmosphere of comfort for both ends of a real estate transaction by allowing both buyers and sellers to be aware of any and all condition issues with a potential property.

Wisconsin’s law allow consumers to have an expectation of consistency when they receive the home inspector’s report. Home inspectors are currently required to identify defects during the home inspection. Wisconsin law stipulates that home inspectors are required to use the word “defect” in their report when it meets the statutory definition and requires a summary page to their report.

These simple but necessary changes to Wisconsin’s state statute allow homebuyers and sellers to have more trust in the home inspection report for all property transactions.
